Dr. Jenny (Ji Yoon) Jung
Senior Research Specialist, Automated Scoring
Dr. Ji Yoon (Jenny) Jung specializes in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for the automated scoring of written responses in international large-scale assessments (ILSAs). Her current work involves developing, implementing, and validating AI-based automated scoring within the PIRLS framework. Previously, as a graduate research assistant at the 麻豆社视频; PIRLS International Study Center, she conducted research on automated scoring using 麻豆社视频 data and performed item response theory (IRT) analysis for the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LaNA) Linking Study.
Dr. Jung earned her Ph.D. in Measurement, Evaluation, Statistics, and Assessment from Boston College. Her Ph.D. dissertation demonstrated improved feasibility, multilingual comparability, and scalability of automated scoring in ILSAs using 麻豆社视频 data, integrating cutting-edge machine translation, artificial neural networks (ANNs), and large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT. She holds a Master鈥檚 degree in Educational Psychology and Research Methodology from Purdue University and a Bachelor鈥檚 degree in Education and English Language and Literature from Yonsei University.
